Created To Be??

Created to be?? How many people in our society today believe we are created beings? In two of the more well-known research groups in our country, Pew and Gallup, we find some very interesting statistics. According to the Pew Research Center (Religion & Public Life) 70.6% of the U.S. population identify themselves as a Christian.

What do we believe?

Now this does not surprise me in the least as we all know that this country is said to be established with “Christian” concepts and principles. What I do find extremely interesting and, quite frankly, downright disturbing. A Gallup poll from 2019 brought to our attention that only 40% of the U.S. population believes that we were created! You can see the graph in the link above that shows us what people think about our origin.

So we have the Pew information and we have the Gallup information that show us that roughly 30% of the “Christian” population does not believe the Genesis Narrative as a matter of the creation of mankind in the Image and Likeness of Jehovah! We see in the Gallup poll that 33% of the population believe mankind has developed with the guidance of God! Christianity has developed such an unrelatable concept of our Creator that these statistics are not that surprising. We are more concerned about relating to the unbeliever than we are the believer or the One sent by the Creator to show us what we were created to be!

Created to be? And how do we relate?

The efforts of the Christian community to redefine how we relate to Jehovah has been happening since the Israelites were rescued from Egypt. How does a group of people witness some of the most incredible works performed in the earth? Then, when they are standing at the precipice of understanding Existence itself, stop the Creator from speaking? The reason? stop talking about these things or we are going to die! Why do we believe that the One who gave us life wants to destroy us? Mankind is guilty of sedition and rebellion, and the sentence for these crimes is death. We have been fortunate that our Creator suspended the immediate execution of the sentence. Not to mention he sent Jesus into this world of rebellion to give us an opportunity to expunge our record! But have we repented of the sedition and rebellion?

The answer is unequivocally NO! To be sure there are remnants of people throughout time that have existed in the earth as we were created to be! I believe when we read the Old Testament, we ask the question, “why did they worship other gods?” What is different today when we say that we don’t believe that we were created in the Image and Likeness of Jehovah? Have we not changed God into something that he is not? I don’t think we understand idolatry and adultery. When we adulterate our thinking and begin to change the truth of Jehovah into a narrative that fits our construct of existence it stands as idolatry!

Seeing the truth

We first give ourselves and our minds to another narrative that adulterates the way we think about who we are as beings. This is where the corruption begins to erode life from our being and our worship no longer reflects the truth of Jehovah. We have been doing this for centuries and the religion of Christianity was formed because of this adulteration. We have constructed our idols and made ourselves slaves to the religion rather than the Creator. The death and resurrection of Jesus becoming the object of worship, rather than the life made complete in his everyday walk with his Father!
